Perennial grasslands and agroenvironmental programme effects

    Get PDF
Farming on grasslands is an important part of organic faming. There is a perceptible trend of increasing acreages of grasslands in organic farming in the Czech republic too. Adjustment of subventions has an inconsiderable influence on this trend. Subventions should be balanced in a sufficient measure for supporting of organic farming in all directions, nevertheless in current situation the increasing of acreage of grasslands is too strong and share of grasslands in organic farming is too high. It provokes a degradation of production function of organic farming and insufficient utilization of arable land. This article is focused on the analysis of farming of selective file of farms with accent on farming on grasslands and use of the agroenvironmental programmes

Life quality evaluation in regions of the Czech Republic according to selected criteria using the DEA method

Our work has several aims. We have evaluated the Quality of life of the districts (LAU 1 regions) in the Czech Republic, according to the selected criteria by the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. This method was initially proposed to evaluate the efficiency. In this paper the level of efficiency represents the level of life quality. The efficiency (quality of life) is in this case represented as a share of output in weighted sum of inputs. In other words, it represents a certain degree to which desirable output can offset undesirable indicators. Hence we have consider three types of input (the unemployment rate, criminality, as well as the specific emissions) and one output (the average salary). In the next stage, the fourth input (the average price of a dwelling per square metre) is added. Its impact on the changing of efficiency score is under consideration with regression analysis. At the same time, we have observed a possible connection between the achieved efficiency score and net migration in following year. In addition to efficiency score DEA method provides weights of particular inputs and outputs. These weights are used to find those contributions of particular criteria to the achieved score. This enables us to determine the strong and weak points of the districts

Stochastic Analysis of Profitability of the Pig Breeding Process

This study deals with the economy of agricultural production, specifically in animal farming. The main goal is to find and apply an efficient simulation model of pig breeding process in order to investigate the impact of various changes in the production settings on the economy of a particular pig breeding. For this reason, it is necessary to take values given in the study as model ones. Costs at particular parts of the breeding process were used as the main simulation inputs, together with number of parities, length of farrowing interval, number of weaned piglets depending on a parity number, lactation length, and the gestation length of sows. Additional inputs were price of produced piglets, price of insemination doses etc. Statistical distributions for the simulations of the inputs were obtained with theoretical curve fitting of sample data, which were provided from research projects focused on piglet production efficiency. The empirical distribution of sow profitability depending on the number of parities, which can help to decide about the culling of sows from the herd, was also determined in the research. A simulation was performed using the program @RISK. The obtained results and recommendations are discussed at the end of the paper
